Ant Treatment (Cape Town)
Colony‑level treatments for kitchens, gardens and commercial sites. Safe for kids & pets when used as directed.
About ants (the bio)
Ants are social insects living in colonies made up of a queen, workers and sometimes winged reproductives. In Cape Town, the most common pest species include Argentine ants and Black/House ants.
- Nesting: Soil, wall voids, paving edges, under slabs and tree bases.
- Foraging: Lay chemical trails to food and water; activity spikes in warm, dry weather.
- Colony dynamics: Multiple queens (especially Argentine ants) can cause rapid rebound if only part of the colony is affected.
Impact of infestations
- Food contamination: Kitchens, pantries and food‑prep areas are quickly overrun.
- Equipment issues: Ants can foul switches and electronics (trail into sockets and DB boards).
- Structural spread: Colonies expand via satellite nests along paving, foundations and roof voids.
- Bites & nuisance: Persistent trailing on counters, bathrooms and pet bowls.
Treatment options
We target the colony, not just the visible trails — combining baits and targeted residuals for lasting control.
- Professional gel baits: Carried back to the nest to eliminate queens and brood.
- Non‑repellent residuals: Discreet applications on trails, entry points and resting sites.
- Perimeter band: Exterior barrier along plinths, paving edges and service penetrations.
- Follow‑up visit: Monitor rebound, adjust bait matrices and close remaining ingress points.
Note: We select actives appropriate for homes with kids, pets, and sensitive food‑prep areas.
Preparation & aftercare
- Wipe, but don’t bleach away active bait placements for 5–7 days.
- Store sugary foods airtight; keep pet bowls elevated during treatment.
- Trim vegetation touching walls; reduce moisture leaks that attract foragers.
- Seal obvious entry points around doors, windows, conduit and plumbing.
